Digital Scrapbooking Software

I'm looking for great digital scrapbooking software. Does anyone have recommendations? I have used 5-6 different versions but nothing that does everything that I want it to do? I'd love feedback on existing digital scrapbooking software products.

Thanks

Men Who Scrapbook

Currently industry experts say that 99% of scrapbookers are women. Most are women who like to get out and socialize, be with their friends and still be making something which connects them to their families. That leaves 1 percent of scrapbookers across the country as men. Perhaps the men involved in the scrapbooking industry are more behind the scenes as business owners, investors, and designers. I predict that as family history and genealogy are combined with scrapbooking we may see men participating more. Perhaps men won't desire to lay out scrapbook pages, but certainly in the digital scrapbooking arena they will feel more at home. Especially as digital scrapbooking becomes more customizable with more masculine pages to select -- and the ability to make home movies "moving scrapbooks" from digital photos. It will be fun to see where the industry takes us.

Adhesive Remover

Have you ever glued down photos either on a poster for school, or in a scrapbook album, and then come back some time later and realized you don't like the look of the page, or want to change things around. I've done that and have felt stuck. I have tried to pull photos off the page and they either tear, or bend and are ruined. It's so frustrating, because I want to keep the photo, but don't like what I did with it.

Well, I've found a great new invention. It's an adhesive remover. It is a liquid that you apply to stickers, photos, or anything with glue on the back. It basically dissolves the adhesive and allows you to pull up the photo with no damage. It also does not leave any indication of the remover once it dries. It's a great invention, and I highly recommend you buy at least one bottle.

A great option is UN-DU Adhesive Remover, 4oz Bottle. I think it sells for about $7.00.

Gift Idea for Scrapbooking Fanatics

If you've ever known someone who is a scrapbooker and wanted to get them a gift they would love, you know how hard it is to know what they have, what they don't have, what they need, or what they would like. You know they would love anything to do with scrapbooking, but how do you choose? I have discovered that Scrapbook.com has GIFT CERTIFICATES!

Wouldn't that be the perfect gift? A shopping spree for everything they have been wanting but haven't been able to buy.

Anyway, if you're looking for a great gift idea for the scrapbooker in your life get a $200 Electronic Gift Certificate. They'll be thrilled! (The certificates are also available in other price ranges.)

My favorite scrapbooking magazine is Creating Keepsakes. It has been the most helpful of all the scrapbooking magazines I have subscribed to. It is full of new ideas, templates, easy step-by-step instructions, illustrations and information on the latest in scrapbooking.

Right now you can get the best price at BlueDolphin-Magazines.com. You can always get the magazines risk-free and if you're not happy, just cancel your subscription before 90 days and you don't have to pay anything. Also if you order now, you may win a Essential Crafter's Kit plus you receive a mystery gift with any order.

If you're looking for other magazines, Blue Dolphin has a huge selection at guaranteed low prices. I've been very happy with the service I've received.

Memory Makers - Scrapbook Magazine

Memory Makers is another great magazine for scrapbook ideas. It generally includes a variety of fun designs with step-by-step instructions. Also includes tips and tricks, reviews on the latest tools and supplies. It's worth a few dollars each year to update your scrapbook knowledge and learn what other scrapbookers are doing across the country.

Simple Scrapbooks Magazine

A great magazine to learn about easy scrapbooking is Simple Scrapbooks. Scrapbooking can be so much fun and this magazine includes easy ideas and projects. It's a great resource for both the beginner and advanced scrapbooker.

FBI Warns about Fake Hurricane Katrina Websites

The FBI has estimated that 60 of the 4,000 websites which claim to offer relief for Hurricane Katrina victims are bogus. Most are hosted over seas and are collecting money illegally. Some even pretend to be the Red Cross or associated with the Red Cross. Some sites have been shut down, but many are still operating. There are even phishers (sending emails which look offical, coming from an actual charity, that lead you to websites which also look official, but are actually collecting personal financial information and money for themselves and are not associated with real charities).

The best protection is to not click on links to go to charity websites -- but to type the charity name into your web browser -- such as www.redcross.org. If you want to help go directly to the Salvation Army, the Red Cross or your local government agencies and donate, that way you can be sure your donation is actually going to assist those who are in need.

Scrapbook USA Expo - September 23-24, 2005

If you live in the Utah area, don't miss the Scrapbook USA Expo. The next show will be in Portland in 2006. If you are a beginner scrapbooker and have no idea where to begin, you can learn TONS at the expo. There are classes about embellishments, how to create good layouts, making cards, digital scrapbooking and much more. If you are an advanced scrapbooker, this is the place to see all of the new things in the market. This is one of the largest events of the year, so come if you can. Discount tickets are available at Roberts and many scrapbooking stores. Look online for a full list. Hurry and register because classes are filling up fast.

Yahoo Searches While You Type

Yahoo! has introduced their new searching feature Yahoo! Instant Search -- which actually begins searching while you type in your search terms. It is designed to save time, but it likely will be only a few seconds here and there. The search engine anticipates what you want to search as you type.

For example: If I am searching for Scrapbooking -- as I type in "sc" it pulls up financial information for (SC), then I continue and "scrap" pulls up scrap.org, etc. I have not used it to see the benefits yet and there seem to be very limited results, however it possibly could be useful as it progresses.

Google Adds Blog Search

Google has now launched its beta version of Google Blog Search. Now competing with Technorati and Feedster, Google is the first major search engine to provide searching for blogs and feeds. Check it out at google.com/blogsearch or blogsearch.google.com or search.blogger.com. It looks like a great service. It will be great to search specifically on blogs easily with this new tool.

Housing for Hurricane Katrina Victims

There is a great resource for those who have been displaced because of Hurricane Katrina called KatrinaHousing.org. This non-profit organization has over 150,000 beds available for hurricane victims and has already placed almost 5,000 people.

They are in need of volunteers for telephones and answering email requests. If you have any interest in helping, please contact them at paul@katrinahousing.org.

Digital Scrapbooking

The latest trend is computer scrapbooking or digital scrapbooking. You can create your scrapbook pages on the computer and then print your pages. One benefit includes the ability to copy those pages easily and email them to family, or create copies of your scrapbooks for each child quickly.

A really good resource to find digital scrapbooking elements is ComputerScrapbook.com

Scrapbooking with Stencils

One of the easiest ways to create great scrapbook pages is to use stencils when doing the layout. I like stencils better than stickers because you can use them over and over again. Stickers can be expensive because they are a one-time use product. Anyway, some of my favorite stencils are flowers, stars, squares, circles, and tags. Scrapbooking stencils can be used to cut out embellishments, used with chalks or inks, and can be used to emboss. If you love scrapbooking and don't have any stencils, it's worth a few dollars to get some.

Link to Scrapbooking Ideas Blog

If you want to link to this blog, it's easy -- just include the following on your website:

<a href="http://www.scrapbookingpaper.net/blog.html">Scrapbooking Ideas</a>

It's that simple.

Scrapbooking Ideas Blog

Hello all,

I'm a designer for a scrapbooking company -- I design some of the papers you might be using when you create your scrapbook pages. I love the creativity and seeing my ideas come to life. Plus, it's fun to create my own scrapbook layouts with the papers I have designed. I also create sample layouts and have done a catalog for a scrapbooking wholesale company as well.

I'm always open to ideas -- so if you have any types of papers you're looking for and can't find, let me know. Also, I would love to find out what you like scrapbooking with the most -- do you like stripes, plaids, grungy papers, word blocks, flowers, or what?

I hope this becomes a place where we can exchange ideas for free about scrapbook layouts, and ideas. Please feel free to comment, as long as it relates to scrapbooking ideas, layout ideas, your favorite scrapbook store, where you have found great deals on scrapbook supplies, albums, digital scrapbooking, stickers, kits, scrapbooking quotes, paper storage, software and creating great scrapbooks. If you have a favorite scrapbooking website, let me know so I can check it out.

Thanks!
RoMay Allen
